Illuminating the Arts-Policy Nexus
Illuminating the Arts-Policy Nexus is a fortnightly series of articles on the role of art in public policymaking. This series invites WPI fellows and project leaders as well as external practitioners to contribute pieces on how artists have led policy change and how policymakers can use creative strategies.
In Every Nation for Itself: Winners and Losers in a G-Zero World, World Policy Institute Senior Fellow Ian Bremmer illustrates a historic shift in the international system and the world economy—and an unprecedented moment of global uncertainty.
“Jan nou wè l/The Way We See It” – TONIGHT– Fundraiser and Exhibition of Haitian women’s photography. All proceeds benefit the Haitian women’s groups who took the pictures.
Jan nou wè l/The Way We See It is a powerful collection recently endorsed by the Center for International Photography of 47 original photographs taken by more than 30 Haitian women who have been victims of gender-based violence. These women spent the last year using donated digital cameras to document their experience living in post-earthquake Haiti. Click here, to see the full collection.
The Event: The collection will be showing for one night only in New York City on April 28, 2011 from 7-9pm at SplashLight Studios. 100% of the proceeds from sale/auction of limited edition prints will go to the Haitian women's groups who took the photos, and the continued work of Digital Democracy’s photography program in Haiti. Malya Villard Appolon and Marie Eramithe Delva, co-founders and Directors of the Commission of Women Victims for Victims and whose work is included in the exhibition, will be in town from Haiti to speak about their work and will be available for interviews upon request.
