Susan, thanks for this posting. I know that you are deeply involved in this topic and look forward to reading more of your work. In related notes:
a) A southern California man was arrested this week for threatening to kill U.S. Representative Jim McDermott (WA) for his support of extending unemployment benefits(!). It remains to be seen if he was influenced by conservative media.
b) We know all too well the influence of words and their incitement to violence. See Nazi Germany and 1995 Rwanda for egregious examples. Ed Hancox over on The Mantle has a nice write-up about this, and sees parallels in the assassination of President McKinley.
