Israel’s “childishness”
Submitted by Anonymous (not verified) on December 20, 2011 - 8:25pm.
"Israel bombs Gaza." I don’t think retaliating for illegal rocket attacks is childish. Should Israel sit back and do nothing while her innocent civilians die and the local economy and daily life of Southern Israel is severely hampered? "Abbas succeeds in gaining membership for Palestine in UNESCO." Yes he did so in direct violation of the Oslo Accords if the Palestinians are unwilling to keep their past commitments why should Israel restrain herself and keep hers when it does her no good to do so? Egypt is not acting like a grownup they can’t even protect the embassies of Cairo they see peace as a compelling national interest only because they want to continue the flow of the millions the U.S. gives it for keeping the peace. The Palestinians are going to have to realize that they are not going to get their 100% “ideal” state sacrifices are going to have to be made by both sides not just by Israel. Condoleezza Rice in her book also clearly puts the blame on the Palestinians for the collapse in peace talks. You are right we should not let preconditions hinder peace talks Israel knows this they have called for peace talks without preconditions many time now let Abbas listen.
