More than rape

This piece makes it sound as if rape was the worst of France's transgressions during the 90s in Rwanda. During Operation Turquoise, France was actively protecting and aiding former officials of the Habyarimana regime, of which it had been a long-time backer. The genocide was a culmination of a four-year civil war in Rwanda, which France was heavily involve in -- supporting the Habyarimana government. This military, geo-political, and economic support extended into April and May of 94. Sadly, rape by soldiers is probably the least of France's crimes against humanity. And if rape crimes are all that the French are discussing these days (which I somehow doubt), then god help us.
