David Stevens

Expertise: Southern African Politics; Innovation Diffusion; Technology, Economy, and Politics.

Experience: David Stevens is the founder and president of Serval Political Analysis, LLC a political research firm focused on the African continent. Prior to starting Serval, David was a doctoral candidate in Princeton University’s Department of Politics, where his research focused on the interaction between technology, the economy, and the adoption of political ideas; the politics of Southern Africa; and the politics of urban development. He has done work on ex-combatant reintegration, the economic impact of South African labor and welfare policies, the interaction of formal and informal economies, the relationship between time and political events, and the role of music in the politics of South Africa. He has been a PhD Affiliate at the Innovations for Successful Societies Program at the Woodrow Wilson School for International and Public Affairs and the Center for Arts and Cultural Policy Studies.
