Joseph A Cari Jr is Chairman of the Board of the World Policy Institute, a non-partisan global think tank with headquarters in New York City. He is also a member of the Council on Foreign Relations.
Mr. Cari is a General Partner in the MedCap Growth Equity Fund, which has a strategic relationship with the Wellman Center, the leading innovation center at Harvard University Medical School’s oldest teaching hospital, Massachusetts General Hospital. He is a member of the Healthcare Policy Leadership Council at the Harvard University Kennedy School of Government. Mr. Cari is a frequent speaker on policy, innovation, and entrepreneurship in healthcare. He was invited by the healthcare leadership of the U.A.E. to participate in their strategic planning and policy discussions on intellectual property and clinical practices as part of the 2016 U.A.E. Innovation Conference.
Mr. Cari was appointed by then President of the United States of America, Bill Clinton, to the Board and then as Chairman of the Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars, a US government think tank that works with various US Departments including State, Commerce, Health and Human Services, and Education. Mr. Cari was credited with working on a bipartisan basis with the United States Congress and recruiting the Honorable Lee Hamilton as President of the Center. Mr. Cari supported Mr. Hamilton’s appointment to co-chair the 9/11 Commission. He also served as National Finance Chairman for Vice President Al Gore's presidential campaign in 2000.
Mr. Cari received his BA cum laude from the University of Notre Dame, his JD from the University of Notre Dame Law School, and was awarded and completed a Fellowship at the John F. Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University.
