Age of Greed
WPI Senior Fellow Jeff Madrick describes the history of how greed has bred America’s economic ills over the last forty years, and of the men most responsible for them. He recounts the single-minded pursuit of huge personal wealth that has been on the rise in the United States since the 1970s, led by a few individuals who have argued that self-interest guides society more effectively than community concerns.

ARMS TRADE RESOURCE CENTER Dear Friends, Thanks to all of you who participated in last month's discussion on the military budget. For our February 25th meeting of the Study Group on the Economics of Security in the Post 9-11 World, we are pleased to announced that Leon V. Sigal will be presenting on North Korea, and continuing multi-lateral efforts for non-proliferation there. Mr. Sigal, who is just back from meetings in the region, is the director of the Northeast Asia Cooperative Security Project at the Social Science Research Council in New York. His most recent book, Hang Separately: Cooperative Security Between the United States and Russia, 1985-1994, was published by the Century Foundation in 2000. We will send out more information about Sigal's talk next week. But, in the meantime, mark the meeting in your calendar, and let us know if you can participate.
